About Unit of Work

Here at Unit of Work, we believe that the future of work is flexible and distributed. Knowledge workers, freed from a 9-5 at the office, with "day jobs" that no longer need to be done necessarily in the day, will be able to channel their passion and expertise into additional projects.

Conversely, companies will be able to access talent they otherwise wouldn't be able to. The engineer who built Uber's observability stack wouldn't go to work full time for most startups, but they could be interested in a 10-hour gig showing a Series A startup how to set up their monitoring infrastructure. The ex-Airbnb machine learning engineer wants to start their own venture, but while they're searching for ideas, they're also open to doing some ML consulting for a Fortune 500 company, both to keep their technical skills sharp and to learn what potential customers want.

What's missing from this picture is an efficient, transparent, way to connect the two sides. That's where Unit of Work comes in. We are building a platform that provides companies with pre-vetted pools of freelance talent, and then bundling that talent into specific, productizable services. We offer companies an alternative to both the low-price, high-noise networks of Upwork and Fiverr, and the markup and overhead of old-school heavyweights like Accenture and Deloitte. For experts and agencies, we offer the opportunity to work with top clients without having to deal with the hassle of project scoping and lead gen.

We're extremely excited about how the next few years will challenge our assumptions about what work looks like, and thrilled to have you onboard.
